This week for Self-Care, we recommend taking a sustainable approach to one's beauty routine, which makes sense since we are talking about self-care. Self-care starts with taking care of ourselves, so we are better able to take care of others and the planet we all live on together. Sustainability is not a trend, or, at least, it should not be. Sustainability should be something we think about when making daily decisions in our lives and in our social circle of family and friends as well as in our work-life balance. We can no longer regard (Mother) Nature as separate from ourselves, especially when everyday Nature confronts us with its relevance. Keeping that in mind, it is important to take what we care for and cares for us and give back through little, but consistent gestures such as a sustainable self-care routine. Now, what is a sustainable self-care routine? That can be anything from switching to a more eco-safe beauty brand to making one's own makeup, cosmetics or hygiene products. We love D-I-Y, so naturally, making some face oils, deodorants, or body creams are great ways to start with a sustainable beauty self-care! However, we also understand that not everybody has the time or even interest in whipping up some D-I-Y cosmetics; so finding others that make such products or focusing on other rituals or gestures are also contributions. For example, in our shop we carry one-of-a-kind handmade reusable Luxe Face Scrub Pads made by local artist Luxe by Linda. These face pads come with 7 to a pack, are machine or hand-washable, and made from 100% hand-woven cotton fabric. Different colors and design make them great for displaying. No more need for throwing away single-use face pads and towelettes or smearing mascara all-over hand-towels, certainly makes for a sustainable and lasting beauty routine. Besides reusable beauty accessories, there are many ways to change up one's beauty routine into a more sustainable, all-caring one. Start today by simply making your own homemade "Spa mask" from ingredients you already have at home!Let us know what you think about our tips for sustainable beauty (self) care, or recommend some yourself!
